cant get online network adapter gone missing after fresh xp install

    dell dimension 8250

    I just reinstalled windows XP onto computer (which already had a network adapter that worked and all that).now i cant get online Network Adapter not shown in device manager

    Ethernet controller shows up with yellow question mark,
    When I do double-click on the "Ethernet Controller" in the Device Manager,
    it tells me the drivers have not been installed for this device. However, I've installed every driver I can find related to this apparent device...and still nothing.

    any ideas?

    I presume you have gotten these drivers from the Dell support site?

    2 hours later sorted it love these late nights:)

    yeah got them on dell support site

    anyways better add to the body of knowledge incase some other unfortunate person has same problem

    used the add hardware wizard and searched for software option i pointed it towards the dell driver folder where everything was and went thru each one ontill it highlighted correct folder and then everything installed correctly
