Watch out for those muffins too.

    I'd take the

    Sigma 10-20
    Canon 28-135 IS

You're in the city, so doubt you'll need anything with a larger focal length.

Doesn't sensor cleaning involve nothing more than a squeezy thing that blows air?

I was in Amsterdam last week and regret not bringing a wide angle lens, streets are narrow so there's not a lot of space to walk about if a shot doesnt fit your picture. So a wide angle lens is recommendable. If you like people photography, and there's a lot of interesting characters in A'dam, I suggest you go for something longer.

Oh as for places of interest... normally Amsterdam Central Station is a really nice building to photograph, but they're currently restoring it.... Same goes for the "Rijksmuseum" and a big part of the "Vondelpark". Another interesting place would be "De Dam" where you can find Madama Tussauds, there's nice buildings there, but they put a funfair on the spot with thrill-rides that block the view :(

Red Light district is always nice to go, and further I suggest you get a map and walk about the canals, there's some really nice houses there. I also suggest taking one of the canal-tours, they're quite cheap and entertaining.

As for the Anne Frank House...expect a long queue!! We wanted to go there as well, but when I saw the queue we decided to skip it.... I was only there for one day and didnt want to waste the day by waiting in a queue ;-). If you're there for more than a day it's well worth a visit, I've been there years ago on a school trip.

Also be careful whipping out your camera in the Red Light District, saw a chap get the bejaysus kicked out of him the last time I was over there cause he was trying to take photos where there are warnings against it....
