Ok, this is kinda hard to explain... so... here goes...

My boyfriend broke up with his previous girlfriend six months before we started dating and according to him, all his friends, his relatives and his parents, this girl really took him for a ride. She took all his money, she wanted a car but had bad credit, so he put it in his name with her promise that she would pay the repayments, and she lied about the death of her father. All this came to light when her mother rang his mother and told her that she had tore her family apart with lies and told his mother that her father was still alive.

She told Chris (my boyfriend) she was pregnant and he accepted that, but later found out that she was cheating on him. So he's doubted whether the child was his. She has since given birth to a girl and he doesn't even want to see it... Now I can understand that because he doubts the child is even his.

I want him to get confirmation if the child is his or not, but he's not very up for it. He said he'd think about it... is there any way that I can persuade him... even for his peace of mind?

Jesus love, do you think its right to be trying to persuade him? Why do you want him to find out. It seems you're more interested in your own peace of mind then his.

In fairness do you blame the girl???? I know I would want to know.
He too should stand up to his responsibilities and take action if its his child. No matter what the mother did, its not the kids fault.

If its his, it's his, nothing ot do with her, she's a third party. Shouldn't be trying to force him into this.

Well it is something to do with me, if I plan on spending the rest of my life with him then I will, in some way, have to be part of the childs life also. That's if it's his.

if wants nothing to do with the child on the basis its not his then thats up to him(he will prob regret it later on but thats his choice)...........you will not have to have anything to do with the child if he chooses to not have anything to do with it..........

now if the mother wants support from him then the courts will insist on a paternity test if he says its not his and you will find out. i see nothing good coming of you pressuring him into facing something he is not ready to face

At the end of the day, if this girl intends to spend her life with him she deserves to know if he has a kid.
I've seen it with friends, it affects an awful lot of their relationship. I personally don't think I could cope with it therefore everyone involved deserves to know the truth to avoid heatache down the line.

So her wishes take precedence over his? She can leave.

Since this is your personal issue and not your boyfriends...

I would say, yes, persuade him if you can.

You should know if your fella has a child with a pathological liar or not.
He should also know if he has a child with a pathological liar or not... regardless of whether he decides to act on it in the future.
