If Scotland leaves the UK is a United Kingdom of England and Wales and Northern Ireland viable?

Shouldn't we be scaling the army up to cope with occupying the north.

    Best to be prepared.

England should have the Republic of Ireland back, since it's rightfully theirs.

I say we go for it.

Erm, like the Irish national anthem I'm afraid that I only really know one or two words to theirs. Something about God saving a King/Queen (Delete as applicable.) Should we get together to practice?

How many Brit PM's have been done for corruption in the past twenty years, btw? Out of interest.

This could be a good move for us.

I agree. They will no doubt respect us as their equals when we take our seats in parliament.

Eh yeah I think one or two have been done all right, but I don't think anyone matches up to Charlie.

Ha, we could take seats in parliament and then push through huge spending bills for Ireland. We could double, or treble the money we currently spend in a year. Ohh yeah. Even more if Scotland and NI do get their own independence... So that's been the game all along... Well done Bertie.

We are all Europeans now, so it matters little really.

I think a new state should be created, called 'the British Isles'. It's already an internationally recognised geographical term, so might as well make a country out of it!

remember those high tech public toilets that used to be near o connell bridge on the south side, across the road from the Q-Bar?

I always remember walking past a bunch of irish soldiers who were desperately trying to work out how on earth to get into one of them...

when i pointed out to them that one might reasonably expect one's armed forces to (at the very least) be able to invade a coin operated public toilet they weren't too impressed

screw invading the north, sure why on earth would you want the north of ireland? what the hell for??? it's full of thuggery and unemployment, it's an economic backwater that haemorrhages money out of the british economy, has a huge running cost, a gigantic and overinflated public sector and all it has going for it is the giantys causeway and excellent fried breakfasts!

i reckon we should put the irish army on ebay - apart from the showjumping horses, the marching band and a few helicopters for search and rescue missions etc- and use the cash we get for it to put indoor plumbing in rural schools and buy beds for hospitals.

the real estate value alone of the dublin barrackses and what not would probably pay for a pay rise for the nurses and teachers, and all the soldiers could just go and join the guards (assuming they have the minimum education of 4 ordinary level D's you need to get into templemore) - god knows that unless we start importing phillipino cops the way import their nurses the 2000 guards on the street that all the parties are promising aren't going to turn up otherwise... noone seems to tell the government that you can't have 2000 more cops without 2000 more people from small rural towns who want government shoes and a life

i reckon sinn fein are aiming for 2016 for a united ireland the irish government dosnt want it though way too expensive...............it would be nice but not at the cost of ****ing up our economy

and there is no need to be building up our armed forces if we do gfet it back it wont be because we "invaded" even the thought of that is comical

Northern Ireland if broken into counties or areas will be okay on the economy, but only if it is a phased reuinification.

Indeed. Corporal Willie O'Dea will personally lead a daring attack on one of the North's most strategic targets - the Buttercrane Centre, Newry.

Meanwhile, the entire Irish Air Corps will fly in formation around the 6 counties, causing the immediate imobilisation of all ground resistance by causing them to fall around helplessly laughing.

If it means that we would be entitled to have a stiff upper lip, then i'm all for
    it.
