    Hi,

Prob a thick question, but we started to pull up our old kitchen tiles last night. The ply underneath seems to be in good condition (so far) albeit, we have to scrape all the old adhesive off.

Is it ok to tile over this ply again or should we put down new stuff? The ply is'nt particulary thick, but seemed to do the job ok under the old tiles. Not sure what the done thing is...

    Tks

    Hi Tradesman,

We are getting our bathroom done too so pulling up those tiles was priority.

Yesterday, we tried to pull up some more kitchen floor tiles and it turns out that there is only a narrow strip of ply (about 12") where we pulled up the few tiles previously, right at the entrance to the kitchen - is an archway. The rest of the floor has tiles (under the tiles we're pulling up) and the strip of ply is at the same level as these.

We're just going to pull up the top layer of tiles and get the tiler to tile over the old tiles and the strip of ply in situ. There will be a lot of adhesive to scrape off the old tiles, but seems to be ok coming off so far. Hopefully the job will be ok - worked ok for the previous owners to tile over the old tiles.

    Hope that makes sense

    Dools
