OK really stuck on a problem here with directory services.

I have a open directory master server set up to accept LDAP connections.
I have created a user in workgroup manager and have the open directory service running.

On the client I want to connect, I have enabled LDAP v3 entered in a custom connection to connect to the server mentioned above. I have even binded the client to the server.

So I restart the client expecting to be asked for login credentials but it always goes straight to the desktop!?
Why is this? What am I missing here.

Once i get this login working proberly I should be able to do all the rest of the stuff myself like adding default printers and adding shares/mount points on the desktop.
Is the problem on the client or the server?

Really need a hand with this guys so ANY suggestions would be nice

Try turning off automatic login. The client is starting as a member of the admin group, it should start with a Username / Password requester which should then quey the server to confirm the users credentials.

Also note that in the User Manager you need to add users to the LDAP node in order for logins to work and to allow PDC operation for Windows Clients.

    Thanks,

Got this going a few days ago by disabling automatic logins. The documentation on the Apple site is anything but user friendly!

Have all this more or less setup.
I have mount points and printers all setup for each user.

    But one thing remains.

When a user logs into the "network" via LDAPv3 he cannot access the desktop items of the local user where most of the data is kept. If I log into the computer locally I cannot copy any items from my desktop to the desktop of the Network user even though im a local admin. Do I have to log in as root to do this file transfer.

Want to make this install as seemless as possible for the users.
