What to do for the summer / Europe?

    Hello all
Me and two of my friends, all 19 year old male students want to spend the summer anywhere other than in ****ty Ireland, most likely somewhere in Europe.
Anyone have any ideas what to do / how to go about doing it, with links if possible?
Our budget is at most €1000(ish) each, and we want that to get us as long as possible away from here, but we are willing to work if we can find jobs, we'd hope to stay away for most of the summer.
We dont want to do the J1 as there is a bigger group of us already planning that for next summer
We have driving licences and a car so a road trip is something we are considering, but the cost of the boat to bring that over to Europe and back again is a large chunk of our budget already gone
We have the same interests as all normal students, i.e. going out getting locked, and also anything that revolves around a beach like surfing (the west coast of france springs to mind) / kayaking / just panning out in the sun spotting the talent
But we havent decided on anything and are open to any suggestions, if anyone has other experiences / ideas?
It seems that the options are a road-trip in france (ive been trying to get a job there but its proving difficult enough even with a good level of french), inter railing (if anyone has done this please tell me about the craic and costs) or a job in spain / greece / one of them places (not really sure if its where id like to spend the whole summer but id prefer it to ireland and seems more sensible given our budget

    Can anyone help
    Thanks in advance

how long are you looking to go for? i went interrailing a few years ago and have been island hopping in greece. both were fantastic but you cant really do either properly with your budget (depending on a number of things). were you looking to travel around much or stay in the same place? what sort of accommodation were you thinking of (hostels vary in price from €7 -€30 per night and the price may not have any relation to the quality)? do you speak any languages or have any places you really want to avoid?

Teach English abroad? Do a TELF course in the next few weeks and go on off somewhere exciting.

i speak french almost fluently, and the other two have done it up to higher level leaving cert, island hopping sounds interesting, how much money would you be talking about / have you any links? i dont know about the inter railing staying in hostels thing - we were thinking about a bit of a road trip n camp on beaches / in fields etc (anyone know if they are any stricter on this in france than in ireland - would we have to stay in a campsite?) but we think this could be full of old fogeys, would inter railing be more people our age

On the tefl course - does that take long to do / how much does it cost / are jobs easy to find?
