Was that lizard thing in your backgarden?
I love the second photo. The cat kinda looks like he wants to be friends with it.

    Thanks i thought so too

yeah there seems to be hundreds of them around, i keep meaning to find out what they are....but the cats love em!

theyre quite funny coz they shed their tails when the cats grab them, its obviously some kind of decoy thing because it wriggles around for ages on its own while the lizard makes a dash for it!

Ewwwwww. To the lizard tail thing I mean.

I really like how the wide angle gives you a sense of the cat being the biggest thing in that wee world.

the second one reminds me of that british gas advert where the cat kissed the mouse in front of the fire!

The angles and crops are kinda crappy. There's no eye contact and that to me always makes or breaks an animal photo, especially cats. They're beautiful animals and if you can command their attention while you shoot you can get some magnificent photos. Just shoot. And shoot. And shoot. And shoot.

I took 302 photos of an alley cat on Monday evening and only wound up with about 10 usable phoos.

Do what I do and crawl around on your belly, it's rewarding!

    Cheers fenster, ill do that.
i feel i must defend the angle of the second one though i think it portrays the size of the cat in comparison to the poor wee lizard.
take on board your advic about the eye contact though, cheers

One thing about the 10-20 is the distortion of very close things - it makes them look huge. It also has a tiny minimum focusing distance at 10mm and a fast focus.

You could've gotten a giant lizard next to a tiny cat :]

You sre about the minum focus on the 10-22mm? certainly doesnt feel as short?
really like the shot above though, youve given me and idea or two, i think if i get a free couple of hours tomorrow ill be going hunting with the cat :)
