How long for a passport?

Hey just wondering, what is the fastest time you can get a passport in nowadays? I'll be getting mine in cork, cuz I know that the queue down there is smaller than the Dublin one, but is it still about a month nowadays?

I'll be handing in my application next week on Tuesday and need it by the 21st of this month. Would that be possible does anyone know?

    Thanks in advance

You're cutting it very fine I'd imagine. Why not do it via the post office, it has a 10 working day turnaround?

I think if you can provide proof of travel they will fast track it for you. but that's just what I heard.

They can do a 2 day turn around or even on the day if you prove that you absolutely need it in that space of time-involves going to the passport office and waiting for it to be done or collecting it the next day.

There is also a 'Passport Express' option in the Post Office. Its costs E7 on top of the normal charge but can be done in 10 days. I'd suggest going for this option and get it in ASAP. I know people who have gone through the first route but its very strict and can be stressful

The Passport Express option is your best bet. guaranteed 10 day turnaround. They're so snowed under at the moment that they're not even opening applications that arrive by normal post and they can take months.

Sorry to drag up an old thread. Just wondering if the passport express option was ever late for anyone? The ten days end the day before I'm going on holidays so i don't know if i'm cutting it too fine to get the passport that way. I live in county cork though so perhaps that would reduce the delivery time?? Does anyone know how much extra it costs to call in to the passport offices in person??

I think all you have to do is fill out the form to renew your passport (APS1) and send it in along with some new photos, your current/previous passport and the 75 EUR fee, and you'll be given a nice shiney new one.
You should be careful about saying you lost your passport as I think they can impose restrictions on you (such as giving you a passport that is only valid for 12 months) if you do it too many times. It might only be a threat to do that, as I've never heard of anyone having this restriction, but still... can you imagine the hassle (not to mention the expense) of having to renew your passport every year!
