This is pretty standard but just wondering what YOU would have done¬
Final table of 150 Euro End of Month (JPs tourny).

I arrived at final table of 10 shortest stacked (with 27K) average was about 60+K. I nearly double up with A2 agianst KJ and now on 50ish. 2 players drop and the prizes go up in 100 Euro increments , Blinds 3-6K.. It's folded to SB he completes , I'm in BB with 9,3, was about push in to take the blinds, but decided to check (mistake?) flop comes 6 7 8. SB checks, I raise 12K (push?) and he thinks for a sec and pushes. I make a call with my 30% up and down straight and he has 5, 6. 6s wins it.

I'm thinking the hand played itself post flop but as I have made quite a few FTs lately without taking the main prize down, (it's pis$$ing me off) I'd like to hear alterantive ways people would have played this.

Willie dont see anything wrong with your play here, ok you could have raised pre but didnt [not bad play imo] and with that flop you had to make a move as you said ur the shorty and if called have a few outs... ul dude

Raise preflop, as played Id push the flop rather than put in a large chunk of my stack - esp if you are not folding when he pushes back at you. If you are willing to get your chips in there on that flop just push the lot in before he does and maximise your fold equity.

I raise preflop, especially if it is one of my first rounds of BB, however if it is clear to everyone that you will push your BB if there is a limper when shortstacked and someone still limps then I check.

Were there antes Willie? If there was a 300+ chip ante from every player in the pot also pushing pre - flop becomes even better.

I don't like the bet of 12k on the flop. You need to shove if you are betting. The best piece of advice I can give to anyone is that when you have a stack of 10BBs or less you should never make any raise or bet that isn't all - in.

The bet was to show I was comitted to call anything so effectively it was an all in (but to make him think I wanted a call) . This move works a lot for me. There were antes. My gut was I was getting called on a push by anything average as I was it was obvious I'd push any two . I just felt 9, 3 was too crappy a hand. Maybe my train of thought is flawed. I was thinking I should have pushed preflop alright but I backed out due to the vunerability of 9 3 agiant every other hand I can think of.

Your hand doesn't really matter. It is your FE that matters. If the average chips is 60k, it is going to be difficult for him to make a ninja call with Q10 or K9 now isn't it? The probabillity is that he doesn't have a hand that will force him to make an instant call.

As such, pushing is good because he can only call with a very limited range of hands. And, some of the hands he could call with you have a fighting chance against. If he calls with AK // 44 - 88 you have a 30% chance of sucking out. So you get your money in with huge FE and hope for the best.

You need those blinds and antes, and this is a great spot to take them. It makes a push from you during the next orbit that little bit scarier, and you are setting yourself down a path back into the game.

If a rocky solid type of player says push ...Next time I push...cheers
I did curse at myself for not doing it. ..hopefully it will sink into my granite skull.

    Thanks ALL.
