Bad sectors on Memory Stick

I got a 256MB Sony M2 (Memory Stick Micro) card with my phone last christmas. During my third time of filling it with choons a few nights ago trouble occurred, and after using chkdsk there were many a bad sector  I didn't do anything unusual with it. I followed the usual rules with removeable USB media, etc.

Anyone know if this would be covered by the warranty?

I haven't had a chance to find the manual so don't know what that says about it. And if it is, would I be best off trying to RMA it with Sony Ericsson or Sony? (The card came with a SE phone but is made by Sony) I'm not even gonna attempt going back to O2 (where I got it from) as i have visions of them being useless or taking forever to get a replacement - or even worse - replace the whole phone of which there is nothing wrong with and would be way too much hassle for what it's worth (I'll be getting a 1GB card when I get a job!).

Also, has this happened to anyone else with M2 cards or similarly small flash cards? I know it's possible, especially with cheap crap, but a Sony card after not even 6 months!? And people say Zip Disks were unreliable...
