Planning permission for balcony

I am assuming this is the right place to put this and I am looking for guidance.
I have recently been considering getting a balcony added to my apartment.

I assume that this will involve planning permission.

So a few questions if I may.

    Do I need planning permission?
Balcony is likely to be say 3X2 metres.

What could I typically expect to pay for a project like this?

Are there any useful links that people can point me towards to research this further?

You will need planning permission. Get a sketch drawn up - doesnt have to be a masterpiece but contain the main sizes and take it to a couple of local builders for a quote before you go to the bother, time and expense of a planning application. See if its within your budget first.
