OK I would like to try and two seperate instances o utorrent running at the same time so that I can have one for public torrents and one for private torrents, each having different settings respectively. I tried installing it twice but that did not work. Can anyone please give me some suggestions?

    cheers
    chris.

Install twice but to different directories? And have a shortcut to each exe on your desktop,or, download the standalone exe from here, http://download.utorrent.com/1.6.1/utorrent.exe and just copy it to 2 directories and run each exe, no installation needed, maybe put it into a folder on the desktop so it can save settings files and .torrent files etc.

I think I installed them in different directories, I will try that again just to make shure though.

EDIT: No that didnt work. I installed each on a seperate HDD and that did nothing.

Different installation directories won't matter, uTorrent stores its settings in the Application Data directory of the users profile, like all good Windows apps should do.

The only suggestions I can think of are running the app as different users, using different machines, or running one in a virtual machine (overkill).

Well, you can run them in two different profiles on the same desktop.

Set it up as the two users, and when you are launching it, launch one normally, and right click on the shortcut and Run As to run the second one as though you were in the other users account.
