    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I've had with a 98 Golf 1.8L for a while now. The clutch intermittently fails to fully engage, ie it sticks when I change gears. This seems to happen only at the beginning of a journey. By the time I get to work its fine. Anyone know anything about this problem. myvwlemon.com says that it is a common fault of 1.8LGolfs,but I have brought it to a garage , and they say its because of age, or misuse, or that i am a hypochondriac!

    any help'd be great. thanks

It sounds like there may something wrong with the hydraulics for the clutch. I remember quite a few clutch master cylinders gave trouble on Passats but I can't remember if many Golfs were affected. Probably best to let the garage have it overnight so they can experience the fault after the car has been left sitting overnight.
