    Hi guys,

I used to do Wado-ryu karate but gave it up about 5 years ago. I was thinking of taking it up again but my local clubs training days are monday and wednesday and i have training for gaelic football on these days.

Do any of you know or could recommend a good martial arts club on the northside (i'm d.13) that training is not on these nights. I've looked at loads of websites but finding it very hard to find info.

I would ideally like to stay on the northside. My old club is in bayside, don't fancy heading into the city centre.

And yes just basically looking for some good karate : )

That's PERFECT, just around the corner.

I think the beginners class would be ideal to get me started. Thanks a million

Look at the pics and seems to be all guys. I think with me being a girl I might stick out!!!

Edit: So I wasn't quoting myself.

Heres a Map of the USKF shotokan clubs in Dublin, If theres one near you ya should check it out, Its not your average Shotokan federation, Its non profit plus We've got a team for the upcoming european and world championships.

    http://uskf.org/Default.aspx?tabid=13199

Theres one in Santry and one in Kilbarrack as well as others on the north side. Ring Pat on 086 888 7947 for more details
    on the Kilbarrack club.

Class's cost 5 euro and all the money goes towards the rent of the buildings, funding events and paying for our trips abroad. you can expect at least 1 special event a month from seminars, gradings and special courses. None of the Sensei's make money out of this its all for the love of karate.

The USKF is affiliated with the KUGB (Karate union of great Britian) with the late Sensei Enoeda's teachings being the core of this style. Head of the KUGB Sensei Enoeda was a student of the Founder of modern Karate Sensei Gichen Funikoshi, the man who's students would become the founders of most of the worlds Karate arts including Wado Ryu. Sensei Enoeda's successer Sensei Sherry remains one of the only men outside Japan who can award a black belt recognised by the JKA in Japan, He teaches and grades all the USKF's Black belts. Feel free to drop into any club, the first class is free. PS some of our best fighters and teachers are women,

I think it's mostly guys but give it a shot and see how it goes. If you enjoy gaelic football you'll probably enjoy the athletic atmosphere of SBG Northside.

SBG Northside has some good training methods and I don't think you being female will be a problem. I'm sure they will cater for you. :)
