Anybody else watch any of Harry Enfield's and Paul Whitehouse's new show last night?

Caught the first ten minutes, and there was one, ONE, good joke. (The Pete Doherty joke)

But the worst thing was the u2 scene, in which Enfield played Bono, and Whitehouse the Edge. They played them as stereotypical paddies, with a couple of the usual jokes thrown in (Bono what a silly name, not as silly as yours The Edge).

yeah its very poor. A lot of the reviews I've read seem to think that it'll become popular as we get used to the catchphrases etc, I don't see it happening myself.

It piss poor, to be honest, although I did enjoy the Americans in the first episode, but apparently, that's their only joke. However, on the up side, last night's ep had Big Suze (from "Peep Show") in it, rowwr.

I was a huge fan of the Fast Show and to a lesser extent The Harry Enfield Show so I was really looking forward to this. Thought the first show was incredibly hit and miss and the U2 sketches were shockingly bad. I thought the second episode was an improvement but it certainly isn't "stay in" TV.

From what I saw of it, the jokes were all Harry Enfield's - that is they seemed exactly like everything he's done in the past and beared no resemblance to what Whitehouse has done over the years.

The Chocolateer (sp?) character that appeared in the second episode was definitely a Paul Whitehouse creation. It reminded me of something that would've appeared in the Fast Show. A few of the other characters also had a Fast Show feel about them.

Yeah, the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that character was that it reminded me of Whitehouse's 13th Duke Of Wybourne (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_13th_Duke_of_Wybourne) from 'The Fast Show'.

I have to agree with other's comments on this new show, it really is piss poor. I was huge fan of the old Harry Enfield/Paul Whithouse shows and an enormous fan of 'The Fast Show' so, with the two guys getting back together for this new show, I expected a lot from it but I've been hugely disappointed. Think I'll stick to my 'Fast Show' DVDs, to be honest.

I just realised something, though. What's the missing link between the older Enfield/Whitehouse shows and 'The Fast Show' and this new show? Charlie Higson. He was a writer for the older series' (and a performer in 'The Fast Show', too) but he's not involved in this project. Makes me think that's perhaps why this new show is so weak, because Higson's contribution is missing. What do the rest of you all think?

Ditto the general reaction, Harry Enfield then the Fast Show was must-see tv 8-12 years ago. Higson is the most talented writer by far so that might explain. The other thing could be they and we are all older, sketch-humour is a young mans game maybe.

I did watch Anually Retentive with Rob Brydon on BBC 3 - that was pretty good.

    Mike.
