I just got the Canon newsletter...

    Canon dealer days
    United Kingdom and Ireland

Canon will be at photo dealers around the UK and Ireland during May as part of a series of digital or professional days. Details vary with each event. Please confirm dates and times before travelling - we accept no liability for errors or changes. Website addresses or telephone numbers are given below......

    ....Conn’s Cameras
    Thursday 3 May, Dublin
    http://www.connscameras.ie
(no details online about the event, but the site includes address and map)

Anyone any idea what this is about?

I reckon that'll be a product showcase type thingie - also a good chance for the canon people to fall about the place laughing at the conns price list.

Well then, they'd be the only ones who find it amusing! :(

If they're anything like the Canon staff at photofest... I'll be staying at home! :D

Why what were they like at that ? I would have thought they would be all hyper friendly in a brain washed mormons-at-the-door type of way.

No no... more a 'if you dare try and use any feature on the MkIII, we'll abduct you as you leave the building, and you'll end up, naked in a lab'

Touchy. And clueless - "What about the new wifi unit?" "We don't know anything about it"

With a book with all the spec and spiel behind him.

God I'm glad I traipsed off down to the beach and got sunburned instead cos the only reason I'd have gone to Photofest was to look at the Mk III

Its a great camera, no doubting it but when you ask the guy some fairly basic questions and the reply isnt as it should be then you dont have much confidence.

The classic was, "have a read of this sales brochure while I go and get (whilst putting the Mk III away and taking it with him) a memory card!!

You guys must have rubbed them up the wrong way. I got handed the MIII and changed loads of settings to how I like them, and blasted away.

I'll be going to Conns as they said I can bring my own card and keep whatever shots I take with it. I want to see if my software handles it's RAW files.

    Merv.
