Complicated resignation scenario

I'm handing in my notice in a few days. I have worked for the company for almost four years. The first two years at the bottom of the ladder. I was promoted after an interview and that interviewer became my new supervisor - nice guy. His boss (my 'one over', lets call him Mr. X) was also present at the interview.

About two weeks after the promotion, I was transferred and now have another supervisor His boss is also Mr. X.

Who do I write the letter to?? I assume I address it to my current supervisor that I've had for the last two years, but since Mr. X heads the department maybe I should address it to him?

Your current manager directly above you and no need to write names etc. on it so (s)he can pass it on to the right authority if required.

    Thanks. That makes sense.

One other thing.. in my contract it says that I have to give one months notice. Can I take that to mean four weeks or do I have to stay 'till this date next month?

That's between you and your employer.
