i'm looking to book a weekend break in barcelona in june for myself and the boyfriend and was wondering can anyone recommend any nice hotels that would be fairly central and not too expensive.

Also i've been pricing flights and while clickair are the cheapest, their return flight leaves at 7am. I was thinking of booking with clickair going out and aer lingus coming back. has anyone ever done this or are there any pitfalls i should look out for.

I was in Barcelona a few years back and we stayed in a rented apartment really close to the city centre. I can't really remember, but I think I booked it through this crowd: http://www.barcelona.com/barcelona_apartments

Edit: Have you checked out Ryanair? There is a choice of 2 airports both about an hour from the city. Reus and I can't remember the second one .....

Anyway, the apartment was fabulous with all modcons and very reasonably priced too! I'd recommend it ....

Fly to Reus/Girona with Ryanair. Very cheap and the bus will be waiting outside the airport to bring you to Barcelona. Bear in mind that flights are drastically more expensive if you want to go over the weekend.

    I stayed here: http://www.hotel-antibesbarcelona.com/?gclid=CNfyq67B6osCFSoMQgodXFRMVQ

I think it was €50/night. Rooms are very clean, staff speak English and are very helpful and the shower was so powerful it was like getting a massage! It's right beside the metro system and only a couple of stops from the centre.

Just back from Barcelona today. :)

Stayed in the Gaudi last time I was there (not this time - left it too late to book) - just off the Ramblus, basic enough, but certainly worth it for location alone.

The Monte Carlo hotel on las Ramblas is a nice romantic hotel with jaccuzis in the rooms etc but it might be over your budget, worth checking out anyway.

Anyone ever stay at Barceló Hotel Sants in Barcelona?
Having trouble finding anything decent at a reasonable price but this one keeps popping up in searches!
