Over two years since being broadcast on the BBC, Irish terrestrial viewers will finally be able so see the new series of Doctor Who.

TV3 are set to broadcast series one, starring Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper, on Saturday May 5th at 7.pm beginning with the first episode Rose.

For fans who have been following the current third series on BBC One they will note that this timeslot directly conflicts with the broadcast of the new series on BBC One.

    Thank you TV3.

I thought that was a fairly ridiculous time to have it at when I saw the Ad. I imagine that they will show the first three series' back to back and then next year show them at the same time as the beeb. At least they finally pulled the finger out and got it anyway.

I wouldn't bet on them having much more than the Eccleston series at the minute. Utterly daft of them to go head to head with the new series on the BBC though.

I really could not believe when I saw that TV3 were getting Doctor Who that they were placing it up against new episodes on BBC. Does TV3 understand that most of the population of this country have access to BBC One and most likely have seen Doctor Who and will continue to watch new episodes instead of their repeats! Add in the fact on the Beeb we get episodes without your annoying ads, and you really expect us to watch it.

I bet the BBC are looking at TV3 and wonderful why to sold the series to them. This has to be one of the dumbest scheduling decisions I have ever seen. Absolutely pathetic.

I might have watched it had to placed it after Doctor Who aired on BBC One, but asking me to choose between new and old and its a safe bet I'll choose the new. Which is a shame, because the BBC don't repeat Doctor Who episodes on their main channel, so I haven't seen them in a while. Plus I missed Father's Day the first time round. I wonder if new episodes will have finished by then!

    Oh well, idiots.

Have they finally coped on to their mistake?
They're now running the promo with 8PM as the start time.

Yeah I saw that! You have to wonder if TV3 check the listing of their rivals at any time. It's not like Doctor Who blindsided them by being broadcast on BBC at 7.

Anyone got any idea about what ratings this is getting? I can't believe anyone's watching it. (Mind you I can't understand why anyone would watch TV3!)
