    anyone done it???

the course does not have a cao code but its basically an entry into any of the engineering degrees if you did not do honors maths...........

its a one year course that will get you into the first year of any of the engineering degrees or if you do very well the second year...

anyone any experience with it??? whats it like how tough is it....what percentage does into the second year of the degrees????

ill be doing this more than likely if i dont get my first preferences in the cao im 21 and would rather not be in college for 5 years so if i did it id really be aiming to do well enough to get into the second year of digital media engineering

    any advice/experiences appreciated

I am a current fouth year in engineering. This is a new programme but is basicly like doing first year normally. The only difference if you are not ready after one year you can spend another year doing subjects (like a safety net) and then go into 2nd year. There are some people who want to do engineering but go to school which don't do honours maths and i think it is mainly to overcome this.

However a point i would make is, if you did not do honours at leaving cert you might find some of the modules tough and you will really have to work in first year to catch up. After first year there should be less hassle as everyone should be on the same standard (as is the aim of first year)..

As i am aware the assessment is done by interview and leaving cert grades (by a lecturer), where i'll assume they'll try find whether you had a bad leaving cert or your reasons for not doing honours, if you have an interest in engineering and if you are willing to work.

Engineering is tough normally and if you are already at a disadvantage you really must be willing to work and i'd imagine that is what they will look for in people.

    Hope this helped
