N73 email probs

    Hi again

I have downloaded the Gmail application to access email on my N73 and it works perfectly. However is it possible to have this as my default mail service on the phone (ie) if I want to sent a photo by mail for example - I go into the photo, send, via email, type in the address - when I do this it stills tries to send it from Vodafone. Can I use eg Gmail for this. When I try to send the image as it is (thru Vodafone mail) I get a network error.

    Cheers

    Edit:

Ok I figure I go into the Messaging/Vodafone mail/e-mail settings/Connection Settings/Incoming mail: where I am faced with the following
Username: I presume is my gmail username
    Password: Gmail password
    Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com
Access Point in use: I presume leave as Vodafone ISP???
    Mailbox name: anything?
    Mailbox type: POP3
    Security ports: Off?
    Port: Default
    APOP secure login: Off

    Outgoing mail:
My email address: just my gmail address
    Username: as above
    Password: as above
    Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com ???
Access point in use: Vodafone ISP
    Security ports: Off
    Port: Default

    Is all of this correct?

Anyone have any ideas where I can get the correct settings?

    Looks ok for incoming

As for outgoing - probably got a problem with the smtp server...
Vodafone, like so many others restrict the SMTP protocol to their servers only

You should leave this as the vodafone smtp server - i.e. mail.vodafone.ie

Not sure if you need to authenticate or not. Try leaving it off first, and if you still have errors, then use your vodafone mail credentials to authenticate.

In my experience, mail.vodafone.ie will always let you send mail as long as you are on the Vodafone network. So that's what you need to use, leave authentication off. It will let you set any address in the to field. Bear in mind I was only testing it briefly a while ago, but this has been my experience.

Thanks guys - I found some settings for the N70 on the vodafone website and they seemed to work for the N73
