Did anyone see his fight last night? The guy has got heavyweight punching power and great speed. He could go far as heavyweight- well, untill he meets the likes of Wladimir Klitscho;)

He's got meaty-strong hooks. I think he will be exposed - he likes to lower his defense a little too much.

The only question mark for Haye is chin , everything else he meets the standard needed to be a great heavyweight . He has the ability to knock out any boxer in the world but you would still have to favour a lot of the top heavys to take him out , especially the Peter , Brewster types .

His fight with Mormeck will be a cracker and is a real pick em .

The heavyweight division is starting to look up with Chagaev coming along , Peter vastly improving , Wlad becomming more and more dominant , Povetkin coming through as the next great heavyweight and Odlandier Solis a Cuban defecter has just made his debut and looked very good . The only problem is that he weighed 258 at just 6'1 1/2 , when only 3 years ago he weighed 201 for Amateur fights .

I agree! once the heavyweight division picks up again boxing will pick up at all levels-we are due a new tyson, holyfield type any time soon-hopefully there is a few amateurs ready to make the jump-most other divisions are quite strong aswell, i dont really understand why the public are obsessed with heavyweights as they are always going to be the least talented of all the divisions in my opinion..

Povetkin is the new Holyfield(in terms of style) he fights very similar and he does look very very good . His opposition has been top notch for a prospect and he has handled himself brilliantly . Povetkins has very good handspeed , general skill , power , offence and is excellant at throwing combinations on the inside . His chin looks very strong but his defence is a worry . He loves to get inside and overwhelm people with flurrys and combinations and although he doesn't have one shot knock out power when he throws shots in bunches they have the accumulative effect to knock pretty much anyone out .
Povetkin's amatuer career is amazing , one of the reasons why he recieves such(deserved) hype in boxing circles and German/Russian media .

Thanks for that-i will look out for him, though i think we need an 19-20 year old brute like tyson-at 27 you'd wonder where povetkin's been all them years..

Ruling the amateurs with ease is where he's been , he turned pro less than two years ago .

If it's a Tyson you want then Denis Boytsov may be what you're looking for http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=267630
A young Russian who is strong , has a very big punch but is still reasonably small and agile . He is inexperienced and young(which is why his opposition isn't the best) but many see things in him that could lead him to become a top heavy(maybe not quite Tyson but could very well be a Dempsey)

    Boytsov's fights :http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Denis%20Boytsov&search=Search

Povetkin's fights: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Povetkin&search=Search watching Povetkin make sure to take note of his opponeents quality .
Of the 2 fights shown there Mayfield was a former Cruiserweight champ and Bostice had gone the distance with Krasniqi(top 15 heavy) and Brock(was top 10 till Wlad starched him probably top 15 now)

Povetkin's physique mightn't look great but don't be fooled by it , he is in shape and strong and that's merely the way his body is .

As for Solis(also 27 with a great amatuer record .) here are some of his amateur fights :http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Odlanier%20Solis&search=Search

and in his first pro fight he knocked out Andreas Sidon http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=014572, that's one of the toughest debuts a guy has had since Pete Rademacher(fought Floyd Patterson for the World title in his first fight having won Olympic Gold) . For his second fight Solis' management are eyeing Ray Austin(who Wlad just beat in a mandatory defence) or Brian Minto , Minto beat the battered Axel Schulz and fought a close controversial decision loss against Krasniqi .
