Which qualifier would be the best to play for the WSOP?
There is one on tonight at 7.30 Irish time, last week it only had 115 players with 6 packages and your money back up to 13th, it lasted 5.45mins
The other one is on tomorrow night at 11.30 and last week had 572 playrs with 31 packages and money back up to 47th, it lasted 7.30mins
I do know you have the same percentage chance in both of them as there is 11k/650 = 16.92 which means about a 1/17 chance of winning a package on average.
Even though you in theory have the same chance in both I personally think that you would have a better chance in a larger field when you get close to the bubble stage as its easier to sit back and let other people take each other out of it, also when it comes to the bubble the blinds will be hitting you quicker on the smaller game as there will be say 7 at the FT, where as its more likely to be 9 handed at the bigger game with the larger field.
But for me I have never played in such a big online competition with such a slow structure and for such a long time, 7.5 hours to win your ticket would be gruelling I think so maybe the shorter one would be better for me, plus I have a days work to do on Monday!!

So what do you all think?
Am i looking into this to much?

The other thing to think about would be the quality of players in each one. The one on Saturday will probably have more European players while the one on Sunday would have a lot of Americans, but in a buy in this large can you look into that much?
I would be interested in hearing from any of the lads on here that would regularly play in these large buyin qualifiers for the different live events that do be on. How do you find them to play and any advice apart from the usual?

bigger field more tickets, is always better....

I dont like playing at 11:30 and going on till 5 in the morning. The Sat event is mostly European players, but both fields can be tough..

    I would just play both

its not about americans vs europeans or anything like that.

Its very simple, the sunday game has a bigger field and all the satellites feed into it, therefore you go for that.

This is what I satellited into as well but you can still go and change the game you want to play, as you can just unregister from the Sunday one and use your credits for whatever you want really.
I know the Sunday game has a bigger field and that I guess says it all really, but I would also be worried about how tired I would be at that time of the morning and the affect that would have on my game. I guess it can be a bit of a personal thing as I think I would have a better chance in the larger field but the time would suit me a lot better tonight.
I think I will just wait until about 7.25 tonight and see how many runners that one gets, the great thing about Stars as well is that you can play it whenever you want. IPOKER take note!!

Of course you can unregister and sign up to the other one, but hardly anyone does. Its kind of annoying that stars have diluted the sunday game qualifier with a saturday one.

The saturday one is going to be full of satellite experts who have already won multiple seats. A 650$ buyin will be their regular game and it will be so much more difficult to qualify in.

EDIT: ATM there are 13 regged for tonights game from prob 120, take the sunday game where there are 180 regged from approx 600 runners, bear in mind sats will be run today and tomorrow for this. I dont think its possible to over emphaise how much this increases your chances of success.

I was under that impression as well sikes, I think I will give the Sunday one a go in a few weeks. I might try another couple of satellites into the $650 or even the $1050 in the mean time. I love the way on Stars that you can build up money for the satellites, it sort of means that you dont have to go through one direct satellite path, essentially you can do it whatever way you wany.
The last thing I want to be up against in fairness is lots of pros who can easily afford to buy into many of these $650 sats, after all I did start my qualifying in a $2 rebuy which gave me an entry into the $33 rebuy!!

Well the one this evening got 93 runners and after 55mins only 72 are left, 5 packages up for grabs.

Im not sure to be honest, I know that you can sell your $650 ticket if you won it but if I was to guess i doubt that you can, maybe if you win 2 then you can!!

u can't sell it, and if u win multiple packages they roll over to next year. I think that's what I remember reading in a 2+2 mtt thread a while ago anyway. I'd go look for it and post the link but I'm afraid Amarillo Fats might troll me.

You have never previously been able to sell your WSOP main event buy in on Stars unless you had already won a previoius satellite for it. I never heard of subsequent wins rolling over for future years, that's insane, especially if you are a 74 year old who likes skateboarding.

Sikes is right, play the tourney with more satellite entrants (Sunday).

I've heard of subsequent wins rolling over in certain circumstances generally at the discretion of the site, I think not on Stars where they give you 12k W$ or something. Also there was a case where an Irish player wasn't allowed travel to the US and the site agreed to roll over his ticket for next year.

sunday is better if you win more than one they credit your account with the cash but you must take the first one
