Men & Motors gone from NTL and Chorus

Has anybody else noticed that Men and Motors has been stopped by NTL?. While it has not mysteriously been whisked away like other channels on NTL the space is there, left blank but in the schedule reads, "this channel is not available". I first noticed it on Friday, April 27th.

What is with this service or lack of service that is?. First Flaunt and Bliss are taken away without any notice, then another major channel that helps sell this package.

Seems to be the case alright. Although like ITV3's disappearance, this could be ITV plc's doing, not NTL's.

Well, unlike ITV3 I hope this comes back. It is the classic TV shows that terrestrial TV don't show that got me to buy NTL digital. After all this time my favourite is back, "Miami Vice". M&M were currently in season 1 which I have seen but the other 4 seasons were on their way and I never saw those.

I know there is worse things in the world than losing a show but after a hard days work I was really looking forward to seeing these episodes because anolgue TV is so boring and todays shows not escapist enough.

Who ever provides M+M to NTL are in negotiations ATM.(ITV group i think) Most likely over carriage costs.

Thanks for that info taxman but on avaerge do you know how long these things can take, especially with the likes of NTL Ireland?

Depends on how long the negotations take, might be days, weeks, months or never.

Well it took 13 months to get Sky one and SKy News back in the early 90's and they were channels many people wanted

NTL have proven many times over that they can (and will) drop / add channels whenever they feel like it.

I noticed that men and motors has been off air for the passed week or so, I was getting annoyed so rang them up, amazingly enough they answered my call. The girl i was sepaking to said its off because chorus are currently in negotiations with MEN AND MOTORS because they want to charge €6.99 a night for us to watch it and that chorus refuse to charge us that.
Also when they upgarded their service I lost TROUBLE, UK TV STYLE AND UK TV DOCUMENTARY. She said the they are being added back in 2 weeks. I am living in the limerick area so dont know about anywhere else. It probably applys to us all.
Just thought that I would let ye all know:)

I got an e-mail back from NTL in regard to the loss of Men & Motors. They apologise for the inconvenience but are confident it will be back in a couple of weeks. I'm still missing the second season of Miami Vice though :mad:

I see that Chrous have a different reason for the loss but as of now they seem to be two completely different companies still. I read Chrous provide UKTV Documentary which NTL do not. Hopefully the channels that are currently with Chorus and not on NTL will all come together to form a bigger package with UPC.

Its a shame about Men& Motors alrite thank god for freesat, where the channel is available for free, dont understand what the reason is for its loss on both NTL AND Chorus, I got a leaflet in the door only today from Chorus saying they carry it..

Chorus do not currently carry UKTV Documentary on their digital service at least not in the Limerick area.

Hey thanks sooo much i was wonderin where they went to! I live in the limerick area too and im missing those channels. Also did anyone get MTV Hits channel 703 on the day of the upgrade but vanished after it? Also is Paramount gone from anyone elses analouge?

I have had problems with Paramount coming and going on Analog but don't really bother with MTV so not sure if its been disappearing, but it is there at present.

Interesting. You lost those channels as they where not on the standard NTL lineup. Timing, two weeks for them to be brought back, my guess is this will coincide with the UPC launch, new digital PVR and now new channels, including UKTV Style, Trouble etc, which where not on NTL! Anyone know anymore?

Subscribe to M&M, they'll need to include some premium content then!

sounds like a load of rubbish from the chorus rep. no way would they even consider charging 6.99 a night when m&m is fta on satelite at the moment. Probably upc wanted to reduce the payment per subscriber cos it was fta and as such not a premium product and itv plc said no so they are still negotiating a rate. dont hold your breath.

Hmmm if anyone else could let me know? No it wasnt MTV it was its sister channel MTV HITS and was on channel 703 but kept coming up "you havent subscribed etc" but when i looked at the leaflet chorus had sent out it wasnt on it and its completely gone now. Maybe thats one of the ones to come? I think well reciever those channels and the rest when they put back trouble and the UKTV channels?
