    Yes.
Well it depends on taste, but definitely worth checking out.

    Well here's his website.

Here's one of my favourite little clips on the net; Branca soloing on the guitar in 1978.

EDIT: found an unnofficial myspace that has a few tracks on it, should give anyone interested a fair idea of what to expect.

Its an outdoor square in the middle of the liffey. It looks like it could possibly hold maybe 400 people safetly unless theyve some tricks up their sleaves.

Doesn't it say 2,000 per event on the leaflet that came with the tickets? Or did I dream that up

Possibly but Im expecting about 1600 people to drown. Seriously its a really low square in the middle of the liffey. Im hoping they'll have barriers there because there isnt any there at the moment.

Theres 7000 tickets for the whole weekend so you never know!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,790 ✭✭✭cornbb

I foolishly waited til the weekend to fill out the nomination form so my dublin-based friend could pick up my tix but the deadline (of which there was no mention in the email) had passed. No tickets now. Arrrgh!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,836 ✭✭✭Toast

Yeh checked there its 2500 seats and I think its expanding from the square forwards. That makes a little more sense than having it as the death trap it would be trying to stand everyone just on the square part I was imagining.

So not the best of days for this. Does anyone know for sure what the arrangements are...is it seated or standing, open air?

Nope, no joy. I'm assuming the second round of tix are gone too by now. Oh well. Let us know how it goes, lucky ticket-holding peeps!

Yeah, does anybody know if its an open air gig or not? Missed out on tickets for Cinematic Orchestra, but picked sum up for Konono #1. Want to be prepared. Man, this weather sucks.......

Anybody else catch wind of the outdoor Dj Vadim Soundcatcher gig in Dalkey?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,836 ✭✭✭Toast

Its open air. No visible cover from reports Ive heard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73 ✭✭walzer

The gigs are open air. I live nearby and drove past this morning. There's a stage set up on the new Grand Canal Plaza, which is a fancy new square in between new buildings, and right beside Grand Canal Dock. It's not "in the middle of the Liffey" at all;)

It's not the biggest stage I've ever seen, but that doesn't mean it won't be good:) And there is fencing around the area, but no seats that I could see. If it's lashing down I'd prefer not to be sitting anyway.

I am incredibly excited about Symphony for 100 guitars. Like I don't even know what to expect. I'm guessing this will be quite loud! woo!

Only read about this last night when looking for something to do this weekend. Didn't realise you had to get tickets until I read the thread. Bit of a bastard, I was hoping it was something you could just turn up at because is sounds very interesting.

    How were the gigs? Anyone?
