I have old deep space nine videos ( the best star trek and, it's the only ST i have) and i want to bring these to itunes and to my ipod.

I may not leave a message ( or log in my user name) in here everyday, but i still come and read and i have noticed a few of ye were talking about apple tv and wanting to buy it now.

I want to buy a camcorder.

    MY QUESTIONS
cause i know most ye must have had these questions at one stage.

1)--What lead do i have to buy to connect my video machine to my imac intel core 2 duo ?
2)-- would the same lead do for my dvd player ?
3)--Or would i be better buying apple tv to do all this work for me ?
    4) we cant get tv programs on apple tv yet, i was wondering why some of ye were buying it and what are ye using it for ?
    5) what camcorder do any of ye have and is it good?
    6) or do ye find a digital camera better ?

to digitize your old video tapes, you will need a video capture card. i recommend pinnacle.

a digital camera is grand but its VERY hard to get them with ananlogue in anymore. even the top panasonic consumer one (NV-GS500) doesnt even have it anymore.

i want an apple tv cos i can then stream my dvds that i have converted to mp4 files on an external hard drive.

    Hey triple h

So you want to actually transfer the videos on to your mac? I'm sure it can be done but, well, I think of much easier, ahem, ways of getting DS9 episodes ;)

The Appletv is mainly for streaming downloaded content from your computer to your television—for example movies and tv shows downloaded from iTunes (not available in Ireland yet) or elsewhere—not the other way around.

I have Canon mini-dv, it's a few years old and the sound is a bit crap but it does the trick.
