The mother has applied and got planning permisson to build a detached 3bed semi on the corner site of here exsiting property in Dublin. I was wondering if anyone has recently completed one of these types of builds and could recommend the the builder who done the job. As it would give me a starting point to work from as she is getting a lot of calls/flyers

    Thanks

Really depends on the size, I have heard of quotes of €125 a square foot , so a 3 bed semi D 1000 sq foot would be €125,000.00. This would be a bog standard design, ie straightt forward roof etc. What area in Dublin are you based ? This info would be necessary for recommendations from posters.

    Yours Secman

Not really looking for prices Secman but I suppose that would be a bonus. What Im really after is recommendations ie: did what they said they would do/ in a reasonable time frame/ workmanship/ and probably most important approachability while on site.
The house its self will be the bog standard type of approximately 1100sq FT.
In the mean time I will do a little more reading here for pointers/questions I need to ask when getting quotes.
I remember hearing an ad about when you go to buy a new house the estate agent/developer has to label the energy rating of the house. When you are doing a private build is this the same and if so do they have to give you a cert for it.

    Cheers

Anybody wishing to give recommendations to cubix, please do so by pm. Also, if anybody wants to post any rants/complaints about a builder or contractor, please do not name them on this forum.

Cubix, have a look for similar builds in the general area and if possible, have a word with the owner about the builder.
