Judo club & aikido / bjj query too!

    Hello,

I’ve just a quick query regarding location / training times for Judo clubs. Does anyone know what the nearest club would be to Ranelagh?

The Trinity College & UCD ones are out because I’m not in college, the Prussia Street one is fairly central (do you know days & times of training for this?), & where is the Presentation Primary School one?

I’m a black belt in Taekwon-do and wouldn’t mind doing a throwing / grappling / locking type martial art also to go along with the TKD training. I’ve tried some Aikido, Budo Tai Jutsu, Ju Jutsu (not BJJ), Tai Chi, Hapkido, Ba Gua classes but would be interested in trying Judo also before I finally try to decide. A lot of the BJJ clubs aren;t great day wise and location wise for me, but would like to try also. There's on one in Fairview on Sats that looks good? Some of the above MA's were great (by the way one of the best martial artists I've seen was Sifu Sam Sun, Chen Tai Chi on Prussia St.), but some of the training days conflicted with my TKD training. I was at Aikido last night (hadn't done Aikido class for years) and found it very enjoyable and good style (not like some of the 'help you gently to the ground aikido clubs!'), but just don't like the fact that there's no groundwork (that I know of) in aikido and I wouldn't mind a bit of this.
Any comments would be much appreciated. Thanks!

If you are an alumni you can still train with college clubs. This is the rule in UCD and I am pretty sure it is the same in Trinity. Also if you are at the level where you can coach college clubs are allowed let you in.

You'll find BJJ during the day in both SBG northside in baldoyle and SBG in Rathcoole. The vast majority of judo clubs are on Tuesday and Thursdays at 7/8. There is a judo club in Fiarview that's on during the week starting at around 5 or 6o'clock so you can try that. I'll pm you a phone number.

Yep, BJJ in Joeys, Fairview on Saturdays from 1 till 2.30ish. I think it's great but I'm very biased :D

A few of the guys here train/have trained with us so maybe they'll post their thoughts..... or Michael O'Leary posted this recently about his first two BJJ classes with us: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055079325

Ray teaches Aikido too..... where did you do your class last night...?

Hi Nothing Compares - sorry, I read your PM before I saw this, so you can probably ignore my PM to you, as the answer is above! I work out in Bray so dont think I'll ever make Fairview by that time! Thanks anyway...

Maeve, I've actually sent you a PM also. When you get a chance, I'd appreciate your reply.

    Thanks guys...
