    Hi,

Just wonder if anyone has done either or both?! Plannin a 6-8 week trip for july and august, if anyone can give me tips on places to go that would be great.

Can snowboard and windsurf but not surf very well, anyone got suggestions on surf schools in aus?

Going out to visit friends in sydney / melbourne but would like some healthy fun in addition to the drinking!

    Cheers

Alright, If you wanted to get in a bit of practice (and have some craic) before you go you could do worse have have a look at http://www.surfing-tours.com for Surf Tours Ireland.

Ciaran there is my bro, might give you a bit of advice on schools in Oz as well - he spent a bit of time out there.

    Cheers,

    Yozz

i snowboarded for two full winter seasons in new zealand - both times i lived in queenstown for 4 months of the year. there's heaps of places you could go in NZ but i reckon for all-round better snow/fun, queenstown is your best bet. and then there's always wanaka 40 mins away by car.
qtown has the remarkables (nice terrain, higher altitude, nice hikes, backcountry) and coronet (concrete) peak. on a good day, the latter is amazing. but its elevation is lower and the snow quality aint great, though it boasts some awesome terrain.

wanaka you have a choice of cardrona and treble cone (the latter i love) and the snowpark. both towns are awesome fun - qtown has kinda sold out though and wanaka has less asshole tourists ruining everything.

that said, i left my heart in queenstown and would recommend it to anyone. the snow is generally best in august, but you do get the odd epic powder day - just dont count on it being anything like canada.

if you need any more info just ask.
