    Hey all, quick question ...

I know a couple of people here have shot various slide films. Where did you get them developed ? I went into a few city centre shops on the way home this-evening and no-one seems to develop E6, cameraexchange has mailers but that was it. Actually almost got it cross developed by accident in cameraexchange, the guy asked me if I wanted it developed as print (because they don't do slide) and I though he was asking me if I wanted PRINTS. It was only when he pointed out that the color balance would be all screwy that the penny dropped. That would have been interesting !

I used to send my Velvia films to Peak Imaging in the UK. Very good.

There is a place on Lennox Street near Portobello that does E6 and if your in the city, Photocare on Abbey Street do E6. If you get it into Photocare befire 9:30 they'll have it for you by 4:30 that day. I used to use The Colour Lab in Fumbally Lane...but sadly I was told the closed over a month ago.

Colour Lab closed?? :( I used to get the odd thing done up in there when I was too lazy to be bothered doing it myself. Shame to see it go.

Cheers guys, I'll try photocare. Its just a test roll to check the focus and exposure on my shiny new F4 :-) so short of cross-processing it by accident It doesn't really matter what happens to it.

Dropped two rolls into the cameracentre ( who said they could do it ) two weeks ago and still havnt heard back from them , dropped in yesterday and they said it wasnt ready yet , ..........the last two rolls I did were thrown into C41 by mistake ( not by camera centre , by fujicentre who posted it away ! ).........seems this time is probably going to be the same.

It is just not convenient anymore to shoot that stuff. And its an expensive film too , way to much to have it messed up on you.

Shiny new F4? New to you I presumeunless its NOS?.....boy what a beast of a camera......I'm already jealous! They actually DON'T make them like that anymore.

Yeah, the Colour Lab is closed. I live nearby and kept trying to get some 120 slide processed but they seemed to be shut all the time, then someone informed me they closed down maybe 6 weeks ago :(
On the bright side, I heard they were thinking of working from their house in Dun Laoghaire via post, so fingers crossed.

Second hand. Cosmetically it looks pretty beat up but I've put that roll of film through it and everything SEEMS fine. I'll be able to tell for certain when I get it processed. The one thing I was concerned about was whether or not the shutter or electronics would up and die, but conns cameras (where I picked it up) give a 6 month warranty on all that stuff so no worries.

And yeah, it IS pretty beastly ! Its chunky and solid and made entirely of metal and all the switches are in jusssst the right places and it matrix meters with old MF AIS lenses. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go and hold it some more :-)

not every day any more - they've stopped doing 35mm E6 every day of the week; i think it's mondays, wednesdays and fridays now. they're the ones who have the contract to do the prepaid sensia, btw. have never had an issue with their E6 processing (i only ever shoot fujichrome, mind).

    it's €6.50 a roll, no mounting.

Good stuff, might be getting up early tomorrow so. Where are they on abbey street ? Are they that camera shop way down near Busaras ?

Thanks magicbastarder, its good to know what days they are doing it now, so i wouldn't waste a trip into them. Sad to see 35mm and film in general getting pushed aside more and more :(

    No complaints with the quality.

Thanks for the info all. Dropped them in this morning so I'll be able to collect this evening or tomorrow sometime.
    F4 user also :)

Is it the F4s (with the 6 battery battery pack) ? I've got an MB-20 on the way to me at the moment. Its the smaller battery pack which takes 4 batterys. Its about the same size as just the handgrip part of the larger pack. Stick 4 lithium batteries into it and your F4 is down to just under a kilogram in weight. Should save on the arm muscles a bit ...

-edit- edited for grammar. sheesh. next thing you know I'll start using the word 'loose' instead of 'lose' -edit-

    Yea it's an F4s OK.
Often thought of getting an MB-20 but the prices on ebay when I looked were a bit silly.

Besides I like the 'real mans' camera look of the F4s :D

EDIT: A great bonus is my SB-800 can talk to it.
