Just booked trip to South America but the trip operator says all the permits are gone for the Inca trail. Has anyone here had a similar problem and gotten around it? Can these permits be bought at a higher prive once you get there? Bit pissed off about this and trying to find a way around it.

think that there is about an 8mth waiting list. When are you going?

    when are you going?
when you get to Cusco there is alot of tour operators. if you shop around you'll more than likely get the trip. you shouldn't have to pay much over the standard if not less.
    who did you book with?

booked with intrepid for a 15 trip from lima to la paz, they have permits for august but no good to me. They said we will do the lares trek and meet up at matchu pitchu on the last day. I guess we'll just wait and see if we can get a permit when we get there.

is there any way of getting the permit when you arrive in cusco?? im heading there this aug/sept myself and want to do the trek, but i also heard that there was a back way to Mitchu - do you still need a permit for that way aswell.

booked 8months in advance - is it even peak season over there at that time
