Why did Microsoft?

Why did Microsoft really withdraw their "My Private Folder" software so soon after it's release?

I think it was only available for 5 days or so before they pulled it (even though It's still available unofficially)

I read somewhere that they claimed it was because the program was too secure & they were afraid of any legal actions due to data loss in the event of people forgetting their passwords. They claimed that even their Technicians would be unable to bypass the password protection should someone forget it. I don't believe that for one minute because I accidentally stumbled on a relatively easy way to get by it if you really needed to.

In general though, it wasn't a bad little program.

Just curious as to what other people might know about the true reason?

My thoughts too weeder, anyway, since when did Microsoft start to bow to a bit of negative feedback form anyone? especially for a piece of software they developed & launched for free!!!:D

Now that reminds me of something else I read about their reasons, it was claimed that children would be able to hide stuff from their parents!!!
Hello!, would that be suggesting that Microsoft were developing a conscience too?

Why did they release it in the first place?

maybe when they were celebrating after the release for a bit of a laugh, someone shouted "WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!" (as ye do..)

and then they went "Fúck" ?? :D

Actually didn't hear of this software.. hmm.. *researches*
