    1. Near Media Co-Op

    Near Media Co-op is a communally owned, not-for-profit project. It is operated by a democratic co-operative, open to all organisations and individuals in Dublin North-East. Near Media Co-Op operates:

    • Near 90fm, community radio for North-East Dublin

    • Near TV productions

    • Near Online, Training and Internet Access for local people

    2. Nature of Duties
    The primary purpose of the job is to co-ordinate production and training programmes within the Near Media Co-Op. The successful applicant will report to the Project Co-Ordinator and Chairperson of the Near Media Co-Op.

    The following is a summary of the duties:


    • To liase with the Co-Ordinator and committee of management

    • To support production and outside broadcast projects

    • To source other suitable projects working with community and voluntary sector

    • To coordinate and administer production and training projects

    • To source suitable trainers and producers to deliver the projects

    • To support outreach and outside broadcast projects

    • To train in the areas of production, digital editing and community media

    • To oversee the smooth running of all projects

    • To regularly review and evaluate and report on all projects

    • To attend team/staff meetings

    Any other duties that may be assigned by the Co-ordinator or Committee of Management as appropriate to the post.

    3. Eligibility/Personal Requirements

    Education, Experience & Knowledge

    Essential

    • Experience of production, facilitation and training
    • Strong organisational, administrative experience and skills
    • Computer literacy, particularly in Word and Excel and Digital Editing

    Desirable
    • Experience in evaluating applications for funding
    • Financial management experience
    • Strong analytical and report writing skills and experience
    • Proven background and work experience within the community development sector

    Personal Attributes
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Proven ability to work on own initiative within a flexible co-operative team structure
    • Ability to work to deadlines
    • Solution focused


    4. Conditions of Employment

    Salary
    €26,000.

    Hours of Duty

    39 Hours, normally 9.00am to 5.00pm, with flexibility for some evenings and occasional weekend work

    Annual Leave

    Annual leave will be 20 days, exclusive of public holidays.

    Duration of contract

    The contract is for a period to 31st December 2007, subject to on-going funding.


    Location of the position
    The successful candidate will be located at one of the Near Media Co-Op’s offices. These are Northside Civic Centre, Bunratty Road, Coolock and Coolock Development Centre, Bunratty Drive, Coolock. The successful candidate may be required to work on outdoor broadcasts from time to time.
