No idea. It probably depends on the text of the legislation to be honest. Poker Tournies though can use the existance of things like bingo, table quizzes and other things like these to justify their existance outside of any licencing system though surely? Bear in mind that I also do not know what I am talking about in general, I am just transferring thoughs to keyboard.

I can't imagine any new legislation having a major impact on small pub tourneys, however the bigger operators like GJP, PE, Big Slick etc could run into problems if they are running major tournaments in hotels situated in towns where there is a fully licnesed and legal casino. I can't see the casino owners being too happy with this kind of opposition.

Anyway is there something concrete to these rumours?? I heard there was a piece in last Sunday's Times about it but didnt personally see the article.

I dont agree. I think pub players sometimes qualify/ go with a mate to one of these hotel tourneys (a step up from pub tourneys in their mind), and then from there they go on to try a casino organised game because they quite enjoyed the hotel game. I know a lot of players who progressed through the playing ranks like this.
An organised hotel games introduces more players to properly run tourneys and grows the poker player market. Can only be good for the casinos imho.
