    Buy it !

That's a really good price for a nice, shiny knob with a scale on it.

You'll find use for it somewhere :D

Isn't it very foolish of car manufacturers not to install these yokes given the (guarranteed?) horsepower gains?

It might but it still will do sweet FA for your car - in fact it may even damage your car at any number !

haha, I know it's really cheap looking and would probably blow up your engine or screw up your ecu. Just wondering if any of these gadgets actually work... I haven't found 1 on ebay that would actually do the job

Does it come with a free bottle of snake-oil ? :)

Oooh a variable resistor, at lest they are trying more these days. Used to be just a normal resistor that they would sell for £10.

I like this one from the same seller

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110105413313

It says "RACE MODE" on it :D

How does this seller have such high feedback from selling this crap?

If it sounds too good to be true then it usually is. Especially on that scam artists haven known as ebay. To remap your ECU you need to take it to a professional tuner, have the car rolling roaded etc and have the ECU set up. This costs about 800+ depending on if you are using the standard ECU or putting in an aftermarket one. Why risk putting a piece of crap like that on your car. It would give about as much of a power gain as go faster stripes I'd say:D . 10BHP at least!:)

No, didn't buy one O them, but I did get an ashtray for my motorbike, a self cleaning one at that!

Stuff like that is comical..messing with the ECU etc is best left to experts...and even they get it wrong.....

must learn how to speil proprely

I bought ten of them and they work properley. At furst I cunected them in parallel but ended up with only 4.5bhp extra. Den I connected dem up in series and got extra 450bhp. PHAKT

"This kit changes the focus of your engine from economy to exhilarating performance!"

Wow! I wonder if anyone told Ferrari and Michael Schumacher about this? Could have made all the difference in his last season

It says in the add - "same gains as full remap". The remap is tuned to your specific engine. If they talk **** in the add then the product is obviously rubbish

you people are do damn cynical. let the OP supe his ride. he'll be the massivest.

then when you get used to the power add a bunch of these ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110118475995 ) badboys to the roof. they create a vortex, not dissimalar to the effects of this flux capacitor people are recommending. you'll be at your destination before you even start the engine and you'll look well good doing it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 34,809 ✭✭✭✭smash

I aint gonna supe it.... I asked if any of this crap ever works? There's no way I'd drill a cooker dial to my dash!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,718 ✭✭✭whippet

I can't wait to see a bucket civic with them vortex yokes on it !! I will p1ss myself !!!

I wonder if I got a few of them on the back of my fottie jersey could I transfer myself from a lumbering centre half to a lightning fast striker !!

I can't believe that the deisgners of porshes, lambos and zondas have over looked this piece of spaceage design !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 673 ✭✭✭TychoCaine

They work by splicing a variable resistor into the lambda sensor in the exhaust manifold that tells the ECU if there's too much or too little petrol in the mix. It tricks the ECU into thinking it's running too lean so it sends more fuel than it needs to into the engine and making it run overly rich.

This is good if you have your foot to the floor, but when the engine is idling or being run lightly then it'll cause catastrophically high fuel consumption, high engine temps and possible cat damage with long term use.

    :D:D:D

I met a guy recently with one of these "chips" in a 98 ford escort. He was convinced he got extra power from 4k with it there was no talking to him at all.

That cooker knob is a good one tho,i doubt it'l be long before they pop up in the markets and you see people turning there knobs taking off from traffic lights!
