Would love to see the Saffies do it, if only because I've got money on them to win the thing, but I can't see it. Oz to win going away...

Has to be Australis their batting has being awesome and their bowling while not as good as Sri Lanka has much more variety than South Africa.

South Africa 12/2. Kallis and Smith gone. Australia with one foot in the final already. Damn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

I'm sorry I wasnt here early enough to make a prediction, but it was going to be crucial that Smith and Kallis not to go early for a SA win.

    Dang, that didn't happen.

South Africa 22/2 after 8 overs.

Enter a man who goes to the same radar calibrators as Steve Harmison... Shaun Tait.

    OMG

What on earth is going off out out there?

    27/4 after 9.4 overs...

Smith, Kallis, Prince and De Villiers all back in the hutch.

    OMG BOUCHER GONE FIRST BALL!

    27/5 !

McGrath on a hat-trick, taken 3 so far today....

Kallis then is caught behind off an inside edge but it's not given and puts one just wide of 1st slip the next ball. Awful stuff out there

Unbelievably poor shot selection. The commentators are saying its a fine pitch. Its the ground where England and NZ played their group matches, and the average 1st innings score was 250+

and that is that Gibbs gone 87-6, Hall is in.Christ the final has to be something special after this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

even if they reach 150. certainly not enough to break through australias brick of starting batsmen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,238 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

another 93-7 tait strikes again Pollock and Kemp at the crease.
Oh no Kemp is in bother here

That all? He will get that in his first five overs! Ponting is looking very worried here, punters lump on South Africa they have it in the bag!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 712 ✭✭✭BOHSBOHS

yep ponting is worried cos he will be forced to use glenn mcgrath to open the batting now in order to chase down that total , he was hoping to keep his secret weapon for the final !

all out for 149 harsh on Kemp who finished undefeated on 49. The rest however mainly Smith and Kallis should be ashamed. That was an awful performance which you would expect of an Ireland not a side that has being jostling for the number one position in the world.
    SOUTH AFRICA =CHOKERS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,601 ✭✭✭Marshy

    SA 149 in the end.

That makes Irelands 91 look respectable.

Wont bother mentioning that I predicted SA would self destruct when it came to the knock out games. Bottlers doesnt quite cover it Im afraid.

So the final will be as everyone predicted a month ago. Sri Lanka vs Australia.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

best outcome = srilanka win by 1 run

WORST outcome = australia win by 7+ wickets [as usual] *yawn*

    South Africa blame Cup schedule

South Africa coach Mickey Arthur says the lengthy World Cup schedule must take some blame for his team's failure to reach the World Cup final.

"During this tournament we were a bit off the boil, with some really fantastic performances coupled with some very average ones," he said.

"Not looking for excuses but the length of the tournament and the time between games didn't allow us to get momentum.

"After the game against England we were ready to play two days later."
