Is it possible for students to get FTP access to an external server (digiweb)?

If someone could explain how I'd much appreciate it, especially if you know how to do it on a mac! (Maybe xeduCat?!)

I've tried using CyberDuck without any luck, and the ISS website is no use - it still refers to OS 8 & 9!!

Use Fetch; set the proxy to type 'USER after Login', port 21, address ftp-proxy.tcd.ie.

    http://isservices.tcd.ie/software/show_record.php?Code=338

(you need to apply for a free licence but otherwise it's yours!)

    Terminal.

Advantage of Fetch is that if you're not into command line, it integrates with Finder for drag and drop.

    Each to their own ;)

I'm not into command line, unless I have very specific step-by-step instructions!

I had a try through Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server, it connects to the server but it doesn't ask for any authentication and I can't see any directories/files. When I access my TCD filestorage I get asked for my user name and password. Will keep messing around with it and see if I can get it to work.

OK, problem solved! Got a license for Fetch and it works really well :)

    Thanks xeduCat!

Is this only for residents? Anyone suggestions for us Windows heathens?

    PC users see here.

ISS recommend two ftp clients for PC users, SSH Secure Shell and Host Explorer. I've used SSH before and it's handy enough to use.
