Basically what the title says, I'm looking to pick up a set of turntables and a mixer, I've been playing bass for 3 years, so i got a flavour for music.

Could anyone recommend a make to go for?

I reckon Numark are good to start out with, I'm using Numark CDJ's and mixer at the minute, can't remember product codes but the whole lot cost in the range of 600-700euro.
Someone else is sure to help you out with product codes and pricing.

    Second hand Technics SL1210 MKII
anybody that tells you to buy anything else for around that price range is wrong. end of:p
not sure what they're going for these days, but you should be able to pick up a pair for ~€600

not a big fan of Numark really, the cheap mixer of theirs I got has a seriously wonky crossfader...

    avoid numark like the plague!

get technics, and if you don't get technics get stanton, and if you get stanton bear in mind they're bankrupt, and only get the str8-150's

otherwise you're better off with technics, best resale value, most reliable, and everywhere you play will have a pair just like your own.

Technics all the way. Keep an eye on Buy and Sell there are always a good few for sale, often for very cheap.

    Seconded (thirded by now?)

I've seen 1210s still working after literally being thrown down stairs.
