    Hi all,
I have a Samsung VP-DC161 DVD Camcorder. When I try to finalise a -RW dvd I get a 'Disk error' message and am unable to finalise the disk. I need to get my recording onto my PC for editing. Does anyone know how to bye-pass the DVD method and connect the player directly to my PC. I am not very confident. Its a very important recording :(

    Sad Jeff

Even if the disc has not been finalized it should still be readable in a PC DVDRW drive have you simply tried putting the disc in as is & see if it reads the video.

yea but it comes up blank. why would there be a 'Finalise' function if you could play without it?

Finalising a disc only means that the disk is essentially being sealed from having any more content written to it. If the RW disk wasn't finalised, you would be able to write more data onto it in another session.

If the disc isn't finalizing in the camcorder and fails to be read in a PC DVDRW drive it doesn't sound good.

Does the camcorder have a PC link like USB or Firewire and you can still read the video on the disc while it is in the camcorder ?
