Left handed players using the rest

I play quite a bit of snooker and i've come across a few left handed players that use the rest right handed. Some pros also do this. Any lefties out there that can tell me why because i dont know of any right handed players that play the rest left handed. Cheers

Tony Meo used to do it as well, if I remember rightly.

I do it, never occured to me really haha:)

I do it simply because it comes naturally to me.

I'm probably really thick but I don't have a clue what you're on about!

I assume most lefties use their left arm as their cue arm which in turn leads to using the rest with your right arm. Hardly change cue arm just to use the rest? Unless you're Ronnie or something.

Unfortunately I am partly to blame for Slaanesh being hungover as we were playing pool down the local pub last night but I am going to have to disagree with him on this one. THe OP is quite right. A significant percentage of left-handed snooker players cue with their right hand when taking shots with the rest. From memory I think Tony Meo and Dean Reynolds (does anyone else remember him!) used to do this. Didn't see a lot of Mark Allen's two matches so I can't say if he does or not. And it is just a left-handed phenomenon, I don't know of any right-handed players who cue with their left hand when using the rest.

as a culprit of the aforementioned crime i always thought it was because i was righthanded outside of snooker, its the only game i play left handed, so i feel more at ease with the cue on the rest in my right hand especially as your arm is upside down for its normal cueing action

This is a bit of an old thread, so it can get a bit confusing when new post appears all of a sudden.

The last post in this one was 4 years ago so I think we'll put it to bed once and for all.
