Salary Query

My mother had an interview for a job as the operations manager for a private healthcare company, the job basically requires her to recruit staff, train them and travel around the country to each facility to make sure everything stays in order.

She wasn't given a salary scale and didn't think it was right to bring it up at the interview but what could she expect to earn on a yearly basis in a job like that?

you can't really tell from that description, it all depends on the amount of people involved the level of qualification, how the post fits in to the company in seniority etc. The range of salary could be 40k to 80k or even lower or higher. Maybe have a look on irishjobs or somewhere at similar positions to get a general idea.

You're looking 70 - 90k on that description, but if she's in the field she should already have an idea. Also, she should have asked - that's the correct time to ask.

It's either the second or third most senior job behind the CEO and possibly the HR manager(don't know if the HR manager is higher up the food chain). There are four facilities around Leinster each with between 30 and 60 clients and 30 to 40 staff.

The job she has now pays 70k and she deals with half that amount of clients and staff.

I really don't think she would be lucky enough to land a job that pays double what she's on now but it is double the responibilities.

I was trying to match it up to a health board equivalent but I'm not sure what that would be.

No point in asking about salary during an interview. Only bad things can happen from it. They either bring it up or you hide the question under how you phrase it.

If she gets the job they'll make an offer, she can counter.
