    Hey.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

Theres a 5-6 man tent on special in lidl this thursday and i'm just looking for some opinions on it from people who know something about tents/camping.

    http://www.lidl.ie/ie/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20070426.p.56ManTent

Its €89.99. I'm only really gonna use it for festivals and an odd bit of camping once a year maybe in the summer, but i'll be going to one in belgium and one here in ireland. In case it rains i want something that will keep the water out unlike my dunnes tent at a certain festival last year:mad:

    Also, whats a water column?:)

Whoever "translates" the Lidl website descriptions should be fired!! Anyway, from the German Lidl website ..
Wassersäule 4.000 mm: Maß für Wasserdichtigkeit mit der Einheit mm. Sie entspricht der Wasserhöhe, die theoretisch über dem Material stehen könnte, ohne dass dieses durchlässig wird.

Basically it's a water resistance measurement. I think what they do is to take a long tube (water column!), fasten a sample of the material over the end of it and start filling the tube with water. They measure the height of the column of water at which the material starts to let water through, i.e. 4000mm or 4m.
