Are any of the running tracks around Dublin open to the general public? I'm not into running marathons etc, just happy enough to go at my own pace, maybe 2-3 laps around and thats it. Can you just turn up and jog, or have you to book in etc

    Thanks

Irishtown in Ringsend is open to the public and is 5 euro a visit. Santry is more difficult to get access while ALSAA further up the road towards the airport is open all the time, and pretty much free.

There is a basic track beside Clontarf DART station (use satellite view to see it). Access is from the car park off Clontarf Road.
The Lucan Harriers track is opposite Superquinn Lucan.

The track in belfield, UCD is open to the public and free of charge to use. No booking or permission needed, just show up and work away.

Fraid not.. The official opening takes place in the next week or so with an fully fledged track meeting with the likes of David Gillick and Fionnula Britton competing. The no. for the office there is 01 - 2016145 if you wanted to enquire further on prices.

    Regards,

Beside Jackie Skelleys (sp?) in Charlesland.

Its a good 20 mins walk from the DART station. Head left from the station and take the left at the first roundabout you come to. Left at the roundabout after Superquinn. You'll see Jackie Skellys. The track is down in a hollow behind it and a great track it is too. Every town should have one.

Thanks guys for the replies. UCD would be the most convenient for me. Looking on their web site the access times are pretty restrictive, no Sunday access

ignore that. i work for ucd sports centre. there is no restrictions on the opening times, the only time you may not be able to run is when there is throwing training taking place but that is rare enough these days. there are no locks or barriers on the track so it's open all day sunday too.
