AVG Anti-spyware, Ad-aware and Spybot-Search and Destroy have all free versions. Download those and run scans in Safe Mode (not all at once). Moved your thread to the Security forum.
Norton Anti-virus is poor at best, there are free anti virus programs that will run much better like AVG Anti-virus, avast! or Anti-Vir. Those are some to consider.

Do this and your pc will be fixed in no time.

Please download the self-extracting version of HijackThis from here:

    HijackThis_sfx download

    Save HijackThis_sfx to your desktop.

Double-click the file then click the Unzip button. Then close the Self-Extractor window.

Using My Computer/Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\HijackThis and double click on HijackThis.exe to run it. If you would like to make a shortcut for your Desktop so it's more easily accessable, right click HijackThis.exe and choose Send To > Desktop (create shortcut).

Please run the extracted HijackThis.exe from now on. Delete any copies of HijackThis.zip that you have saved.

Open HijackThis and click Do a system scan and save a log file. Copy the entire contents of that log and post it here

Make sure you get good advice on what to remove when using Hijack This(You could remove something you need for your OS).

Yep thats true, I assume since he didn't post the log here that his pc is ok. Hopefully he told his mate to clean up his pc with some scans in safe mode also.

Typical Norton. A joke! Get a new AV program. Check out the sticky on this security forum for suggestions. Also check out PC World for online recommendations. Google has gadget links on their toolbar that review software too.
