A friend kindly took a Jack Russel from a shelter, all is going well, except he eats his own sh*t. Anyone any ideas of how to stop him doing this? (aside from following him around picking it up)

    Thanks in advance.

That normally means they aren't getting all the nutrients in the food that they need, what are they feeding him?

    or ....

It could mean that the food is way too rich, so that even after digestion it contains enough "goodies:eek: " to be palatable yet again :D

Have a chat with the vet re proper feeding instructions and proper food, actively discourage uptake of fecies and if it still continues, feed some really smelly cheese instead.

Taste aversion can work well to prevent this, ask ur vet about stuff that you can put on the faeces and he'll learn not to eat them when he finds out that when it doesn't taste so good.

Would chat to the vet and change the diet but adding pineapple and courgette for now will / meant to discourage him from doing so
