There's been few of these threads before, but what the hell....I collect the Orks and the Space Wolves, I guess its nearly impossible to say what the best army is because they all have strengths and weaknesses. Are you playing long??

I have Chaos Undivided, Night Lords, World Eaters, IG and Tau. I've also ideas for Orks and Radical Deamonuhunters, but those are just vapour forces at present.

Best army depends on a whole lot of variables.

Ive been falling in love with the Tau tbh, dear god broadside battlesuits are seriously powerful, and a 30"-5-5 gun on a 10 point troops is just silly powerful, especially if you mix in a few markerlights from a pathfinder squad, give them a bit of a kroot meatshield and your well sorted.

The way Im currently playing is i collected about 500+ models in my youth from all sorts of armies, now I just buy all the codex's and use "count-as" to build entire armies, Ive played 1500 point 2v2 battles (6000 total) without maybe a dozen men on the field actually being what the models say they are, can get confusing, but I have as many armies as GW release, so Im happy :)

Eldar are also really fun to play, wraithlords are so so silly tough to kill, if you can surprise an enemy who didnt take THAT much anti tank (dont usually need it vs eldar) and just stack up 3 wraithlords they can wreak serious havok, especially against the likes of Orks who cant actually really hurt them in melee, can tie up most of an Ork army quite easily with them. Not to mention they have pathfinders, and a war walker with 2 shuriken cannon is 6 strength 6 shots for 40 points, which is insane :)

Also have a fair bit of experiance playing with Chaos, Guardies, Marines, Tyranids and Necrons (monoliths + immortals = yum).

    Space Marines.

Took a sabbatical from the game for a few years and only recently started getting back into it and the range of models now compared to a few years back is just staggering, I'm still trying to take it all in, and with the Tau and Necrons and Daemonhunters and everything the whole thing has become even more interesting.

Anyway I have about 40 or 50 tactical marines with accommpanying Librarians and Chaplains, 2 Land Raiders, Vindicator, Terminators(Old ones I intend to replace with those cool new models), a small scout force and recently bought myself a new Assault Terminator squad, the new Whirlwind model, a Baal Predator and the new Command Squad and Commander.

I currently trying to put together an IG army for 40k, and Bretonnian's for warhammer.

I also got so much other stuff to build it's not funny anymore (space marines, tau, orcs & goblins, empire, and battlefleet gothic stuff too) , and I've only been collecting for 4 years! and people say your suppose to get a bit more sense in your 20's! dam gaming friends in college getting me addicted.

I get that with the Orks aswell....so many to paint!! What i do is paint 10 or so,,,then paint a character to break the monotony!!!

Also a good way to have some of your models nicked. I remember packing up one time and no less than seven of my Genestealers had been swiped.

Ive collected Dark Angels,Eldar , Tyranids, Necrons and Tau. All full armies , with the DA being the largest.
Sold the Eldar to pay for the Nids and havent had the time to paint the Tau.
All over about 15 years but now the amount of models, as said earlier is crazy.

I only ever played the 2ed rules as the 3rd ed was way too diluted down to make the game faster. But I dont want to change the thread to become an which edition is better argument.

The best army can't be answered as each army specialises in certain types of battle and its down to the player if he can manage them and his personal taste.

Haven't played in a long time but still love it.

Considering the game is up to 5th edition at the moment and very much streamlined by comparison to 4th (don't know 3rd I'm afraid) and holy necro batman :)

I funnily enough collect Catachan JUNGLE FIGHTERS!! Imperial Guard

Deadly in Difficult Terrain but out in the open..........they get destroyed ha ha

Not many of us left every one seems to go for SM or CHAOS now adays dono why suppose there the easiest to start with really strong defensively/offensively plus and tactics suit them really
