    Me and a few friends are planning on going to Rome on a budget and i wondering what peoples experience of hostels are like?

    Is it weird sharing a room with people you dont know?

    No, get in there, get talking and have fun. You can meet some really interesting and fun people in hostels.

    It's kindof wierd, the biggest draw back is there's nearly always someone sleeping in the room so you have to be quiet and your room isn't a retreat like it would be in a hotel. For socialising though it's 100 times better than a hotel. The common rooms (or bars, get a hostel with a bar) are always full of young people that go out of their way to meet new people. They also tend to have allot of research done on the city their in so know where to go. The staff are usually working backpackers that know the city inside out.

    If you want great craic, late nights and a party atmosphere hostels are the way to go.
