Well, After getting my Wii in Dec, I've finally tired of waiting for some good games. While it was fun (I had some great nights with Wii Sports...) I've decided to sell it. I am a bit sad about it but I'll always have the memories. For anyone who cares my reasons are:

    1. I'm tired of waiting for some decent games to come out. In my opinion Rayman, Warioware and Zelda are the only decent titles out there (feel free to try and persuade me otherwise).

    2. I'm curious to see what the XBOX 360 is like having had the original one. I also have a MCE PC upstairs so I'll be interested in seeing how that pans out.

Anyway, for those of you who still wii :-) , keep on piddling...

Have you tried The Godfather? Best game on the system imo.
SSX Blur also makes excellent use of the motion controllers.

Super Mario Strikers is coming out May 23rd as the first online Wii game in europe.

Lots of reasons to stay dude but ultimately, whatever you choose to do, happy gaming! :)

I've not had the money to try out various games getting mixed reviews - but I'm happy to sit it out for the AAA titles, just like I did with the DS (although I kinda wish I had sold it now, just so I had a valid excuse to get a lite once I went back!).

If you bought a Wii for the likes of Metroid and Mario you're just going to end up buying one again, and you'll be losing money as a result... why not just put it to one side and wait... it doesn't take up that much space!

Back in ye olde N64 days, I got it around launch for Mario. Got a few other games, finished them, got bored (like kr0nik). 6 months later I had to buy another N64 for Ocarina (and lots of great games that came out in the meantime).

So I say don't be too quick to sell it. Metroid Prime III, Mario Galaxy etc. will make the wait worthwhile.

it is getting a bit crazily frustrating waiting for some *great* games to appear.

still using it, but the xbox 360 i bought after the wii is getting *far* more play. at least once a month a great new game comes out that demands being bought. why can't this happen with the wii???

I haven't played a proper Wii game in ages. The VC is getting the most play from me. Saying that I know the bigs are coming. Come The autumn we should have Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy, which is meant to be brilliant, out for christmas.

The Wii at the moment is a great complement to another console but I think that by Christmas we should start seeing a lot of quality games. Remember the DS had nothing worth playing for about 9 months but look at it now, there's a must have almost every 2 weeks. If I were you I'd hang on to it for a while, but if you decide to get a 360 you won't be disappointed, although you might want to wait for the elite edition 360.

I don't really understand this notion of there being a games drought for the Wii. You see, here are the games I own, which I also think are generally excellent:

    Zelda
    WarioWare Smooth Moves
    Excite Truck
    Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz
    Wii Sports

And here are the games that are on shop shelves that I'm very interested in playing:

    Kororinpa
    Sonic and the Secret Rings
    Red Steel
    Gottlieb Pinball Classics
    Metal Slug Anthology

That's ten games, out right now, and they're all exclusives (aside from Metal Slug, but that's otherwise only on the PSP). That's just what I'm interested in, of course, but it's pretty good going for a somewhat weird console that's only five months old, surely?

Im not the only one who feels like this!

Im not gonna sell it or anything as it was a xmas pressie, but my 360 is on at least once a day, im playin far more games on it, but nowt on the wii is exciting me cept for mario and metroid and they are a long way off!

Zelda was great while it lasted but wheres the "Killer Apps"?

My Wii is mainly used for browsing the net and playing Lylat Wars and SMW!

It does feel like when I had an N64 and was waitin for good games to come out whereas my ps1 was gettin far more usage at the time, even though I wouldnt dream of buyin a Sony console now!

Dont any of you realise that it takes time for games to be released?!
Developers aren't gonna develop loads of games to be ready for the launch (and subsequent months) of a brand new untried console (especially the one that follows up the much-underrated gamecube).
Developers are only now realising the potential with the wii and so all the games are currently in development.
Even EA (the no.1 games developer on the planet) has admitted that their profits were not as high as usual because they were too slow to pick up on the wii and that they put too much faith into the ps3 .

In summary, just wait till Q4 2007 and then 2008. Then the games will come rolling in!

I was the same, though i held onto the wii and bought a few VC titles to keep me interested, and Metal Slug Anthology, Tiger Woods, and Madden.
    All excellent games.
I must get back into Zelda though!

Yeah, I still have to finish Zelda too.... I'm on the twilight palace, so I'm close! Haven't touched it for 6 weeks at least. I blame my DS (and the VC).

If you think about it the xbox 360 was in the same position only a few months ago with very few quality exclusives. It was only coming up to christmas when developers had gotten the hang of the machine that we started seeing the AAA titles. The same will happen with the Wii and the same thing is happening to the PS3. It takes a while before the good games start coming out. Was there honestly anything on the PS2 worth playing other than Fantavision before GT3 and GTA3 arrived a full 10 months after launch?

Well I had no intention of buying a Wii in the first place, until I was in Game (the right place at the right time) and I just decided to get one. Had a good few hours playing on it, and Madden gets used nightly (1 quick game, the throwing motion seems flawed when I'm sitting down and I end up getting sacked regularly unless I stand up and put some effort into it) but I've found that I've been returning to my NGC games a lot more. I never finished Pikmin 2, so that's hanging around and I picked up Eternal Darkness for a fiver there a few weeks back so that'll be going in soon. On top of that I've got the never ending Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing to fall back on. I'm looking at the machine as an NGC+ at the moment, and that suits me fine.

(As for the VC, I cannot ever see myself buying something from it; if I want to play old SG games, I can just get an emulator)

Maybe I'm being a bit heartless but I just can't shake off that "I've played it but what is there now to do" feeling.

@Retr0gamer - since I'm not going to waste money on titles I'm not interested in, I'm just a bit annoyed about having to wait until Christmas 07 for a larger range of games (I am aware and agree with the "developers won't release a large number of games at console launch argument").

Maybe I'm just expect too much from my wii..

Havent used mine for 3 months either. PS2 and PC getting my gaming time - just better games.

Gona hold onto the Wii for the moment, in hope that some good stuff does come out. Its disappointing as I still think the machine has potential.

If its still the same situation at the end of the year tho, Ill give up and sell it on, get a 360 instead.

Yea disappointed with nintendos showing as well tbh. Will hold onto it, but grudgingly so. If a fancy new xbox360 comes out that doesn't sound like a lawnmower I'd snap one up... oh that's the ps3 right?

This might sound sad but i find that after having a 360 for a year it feels strange not playing a game for achievements. If the Wii had achievements id play it a whole lot more.

Im a achievement whore by the way:D 18000 and counting

Try Sonic & the secret rings. I don't actually have a Wii but if I did buy one it would probably be for this game and I've heard nothing but good things about it from other people and reviews are decent enough for it.

Thing with Wii is that a lot of the dev's jumped on board late enough (like E3 06) so they only started making games then. With 2-3 years to make a game they are just throwing crap at the Wii at the moment with a few gems in there aswell. I think it'll pick up later but at the moment PS2 ports are the norm because its the easiest thing to do and they have to put something on the console with the massive user base it is developing so early on.

I think it'll probably pick up later on. I got a 360 for some of the exclusives coming out on it like Forza, Gears of War, Halo etc.. but I had a Gamecube and although there aren't great games released every other day, Nintendo games are fantastic and usually worth waiting for.

I empathise with the OP, but like Flogen suggested earlier in the thread, I've "parked" mine up (which gets dusted on every social occasion, mind!) and am awaiting "better" games: after my 4th buy/sell a N64, 2nd buy/sell a PS2, 2nd buy/sell an Xbox, 3rd buy/sell a GC, 2nd buy/sell a NDS, I've finally learned my lesson, LOL!

There will be a game to make you regret the sale, OP - there always is ;)

Oh, yeah: my solution was to buy (again!) a 2nd hand slimline PS2 a few weeks back, with 4-5 top games I missed out on over the past 3-4 years (altogether, with component cables, DVD remote etc. *all Sony* for less than the price of a couple of average Wii games ;) ).

The first online game is Mario Striker Charged on 23rd May
Top 5 games so far are imo:

    The Godfather: Blackhand Edition
    Zelda: Twilight Princess
    SSX Blur
    Wii Sports
    Sonic and the Secret Rings
