    Hi,

i know this thread has been done to death but i have a little bit of a twist on the theme. I am going to have it done but i am trying to decide where.

I booked in for consultation in Optilase and eyelaser ireland in dublin. Also looked for appointment for The Wellington but they are booked up till July...which doesn;t suit me as i'm moving to Glasgow in June.

This leads me on to the next part of my question. Am i better waiting until i move to have it done over there? If i had it done here, how long would i expect to have to keep going for after care?

Can anyone recommend (by any chance) a decent clinic in Glasgow to have it done....i kinda like the idea that people i know have used the places here and they've been recommended by people i trust.

No idea of what clinics are like in Glasgow.

I went to Optilase and found them to be very professional.

Don't think you can get it done here though as there are about 5 follow-up apppointments over the 6 months after the surgery!

I had my eyes done in The Mater by Dr O'Keefe five years ago and haven't had any problems. Since then I have heard he is the bis from lots of people.

I went to eye laser ireland for a consult and they were very good...but they seem to be the most expensive price. She told me it will be a flat fee of 2,500 per eye. Now i'm not a bad case and have a fairly moderate prescription. I know others who have paid 1000 per eye in Blackrock and i was given a quote of 495 sterling in glasgow per eye.

She also said that other clinic's use a blade or cutting tool to make the cornea flap where they have a new laser technology for doing it. Has anyone who's had it done experienced this? Should that account for the difference in price? I know it seems expensive but they did say they;ve got a slot available on the 12th may which is ideal timing...just don't think i can pay so much over the odds for the speed.
